Good Electric Guitars for the Beginner
If you are in the market for a low cost guitar because you are just starting out, you should focus on finding one with good caliber wood and respectable workmanship. Some guitar makers compromise quality with their beginner electric guitars so it is best to know a few name brands that can be trusted for quality.
There are quite a few Squier models out that are solid and low priced. Some of the hardware is not the best but overall the workmanship is acceptable. The ‘Fat Strats’ as they are called are some of the best looking that are actually very reminiscent of the more expensive Fender Stratocasters.
Yamaha is another top choice. Its Pacifica Series is a good solid value as it is made of high quality wood with a neck made of maple and a rosewood fretboard with single coil pick-ups. Pair a Pacifica with one of the less expensive but impressive Peavey amps and you will be jammin’ with the best of them!
As you may know, the Les Paul is considered THE rock n’ roll guitar. Epiphone has the Special II that is modeled after the Les Paul with a body made of laminated alder/maple, a mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard.
